Third Year Block 1

Hi there. We just finished with our exams and… it was exhausting. The ENT-OB-Gyne combo was really heavy and stressful. I made the mistake of skipping lunch that day and suffered from hunger pangs during the difficult OB test. Ugggh note to self: EAT ON TIME.

But thinking about it, all topics were discussed during our lectures. I guess we just need to learn how to manage our time more efficiently because of the papers that really eat a big chunk of our time. Hmmm, we’ll do better.  I enjoyed the cardio block, it was challenging, but I enjoyed it. Thank you for the lessons, Lord. 🙂

What else happened during this block..? Well, I would like to welcome the first years! I’m really happy to see majority of them are active and friendly!! Keep it up, guys. We’ll be right here to offer support and help whenever you need them. Enjoy the freshmen year! ❤

  1. Hello! SLCM is my top choice for med school for obvious (unsure) reasons but I want to know what it’s really like to be a med student in SLCM. If given the opportunity, would you choose another school? Please share your experiences and what you love (or hate) about your school.

Anyway, I’ve read a lot of blogs written by med students/doctors but yours is the warmest, inspiring and helpful one to a lot of your readers! I appreciate you taking the time to read and answer all the comments.

    • Hi there! First off, I just want to thank you for this comment. You just made my day, stranger <3. I cannot speak for the other medschools because I honestly have no experience on their curriculum or environment and I only get stories from my friends from other schools so I'll try my best to provide an overview.

If given the opportunity to switch schools, will I? Nope, I won't choose another school. 🙂 What can I say I really love SLCM. It was my top choice after all if you've read my previous posts. Stats on passing the boards is one thing but you have to consider the environment of the school as well. I don't know about the other schools pero sa batch talaga namin, there is no competition. Walang pataasan, we really help each other to pass. Support sa activities ng different orgs, etc. Isang section per year kasi so maybe that's why tulungan talaga. Ang prayer namin this year, sabay sabay kaming mag-clerkship, walang maiiwan! Ang balita ko kasi sa other schools, matindi talaga yung competition 😦 Competition is good pero not to the point na you'll feel useless and incompetent if you do not reach your goals or when you can't keep up with your classmates. This info is just from my friends nga pala.

I think one comment is not enough to share everything about my school pero I hope you get the idea. Actually you gave me an inspiration to write a post about things I love in SLCM. Haha! Well, in summary: things I love in SLCM: scholarships + friendly and supportive admin + camaraderie per batch + competent doctors/teachers + boards stats + many more.

Again, thank you for taking the time to read my humble blog. I hope you can come to SLCM's Open House this year (I think November) so you can see first-hand what it's like in SLCM. Thanks and God bless! ❤

  2. Thank you for taking the time to answer me despite your busy schedule. Naging decided na ako makapasok sa SLCM and get a high score in NMAT this October because of this. You are the kind of people/seniors I want to surround myself with in med school. I agree with everything you said, I love to be in a challenging environment but hate illogical competition. And yes, you should write about your experiences in SLCM. Sobrang laking tulong talaga ng blog mo. And also that’s the kind of environment and training the future doctors should have (para mabawasan na superiority complex :D). I will check the schedule and will go to the open house. I will definitely share your blog to all of my friends who want to study medicine, this is only one of the ways I can thank you. ❤

    • Hello! Apologies for the late reply, we just finished our Block 2 exams! Ahhh, I’m so happy you’re considering SLCM because of the things I wrote here in my blog! I can’t wait for you to start your med journey because I know it will be a lot different and unique. Also if you haven’t seen the pubmat yet, the Open House will be on November 4, 2017!! See you and good luck on your NMAT! 😀
